Project Brief: Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) has commissioned a project to conceptualize and design a Pre-historic Rock Art Park in close vicinity to the UNESCO World Heritage site Bhimbetka to DRONAH in July 2023.
The Pre-Historic Rock Art Park at Bhimbetka will communicate and enhance the significance of Bhimbetka which would preserve an almost insular evolution of human cultural history within a microcosm to its wide range of visitors. The proposed shelter, spaces and design form aim to create an engaging and experiential journey through the cultural landscape of the UNESCO Bhimbetka site. The design aims to guide the visitor through the actual trail of the Bhimbetka rock shelter to create curiosity about the actual site along with depicting the other 4 inaccessible rock shelters hill/zones of the site- Bineka, Bhonrawali and Lakha Juar (East and West) for its visitors. The design will aim to keep the site as open as possible, not hindering the natural landscape with a minimum maintenance-free and tactile built mass.
