Project Brief: Sonbhadra Fossil Park, showcases an exceptional collection of fossils dating back approximately 1.4 billion years, making it one of the oldest and most well-preserved fossil sites in the world. The project entails the drafting of the ‘World Heritage Nomination Dossier’ for this remarkable geological site, as per the format and requirements outlined in UNESCO's Operational Guidelines (OG) for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention. Additionally, the process now also includes the preparation of a ‘Request for a Preliminary Assessment’ of a potential nomination to the World Heritage List, prior to the dossier. The nomination covers several key aspects, including - Executive Summary, Identification of the Property, Description of the Property, Justification for Inscription, State of conservation and factors affecting the property, Protection and Management, Monitoring, Documentation, and Contact Information of responsible authorities.
