DRONAH Projects in this region include:

  • Conservation of Mukherjee Ghat: Doorgacharan Mukherjee Ghat on the eastern bank of Ganga (Bhagirathi-Hooghly) in Bagbazar, Kolkata was recently rechristened as “Sri Sri Sarada Mayer Ghat” after restoration and adaptive re-use of the Ghat structure and improvement of the immediate environs. On behalf of ‘Centre for Habitat, Environment and Disaster Management’ (CHEDM), Prof. Monideep Chattopadhyay and Suchandra Bardhan from DRONAH prepared an outline plan for the same for Sri Ramakrishna Math of Bagbazar.
  • A Research project that attempts to investigate the merits of Horticultural practices in day-to-day life of every individual. In this context, it recommends the introduction of Horticultural or Environmental byelaws integrated with Building Byelaws to make these practices mandatory for every household, so that the manifold advantages not only benefit the urbane, but also the urban environs.
  • Mapping of Landscape Resources with Remote Sensing and GIS Technology: A Case Study of Sunderbans, West Bengal.
