DRONAH Projects in this region include:

  • Dronah is responsible for preparing Master Conservation Plan for the City Palace Complex, Udaipur and other heritage structures in the vicinity. Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation has developed a comprehensive vision called ‘The City within a City’ for the conservation of the City Palace (an assemblage of Rajput Palaces built between 16th and 20th Century) and the remaining complex. 'The City within a City' project is envisaged as a self-sufficient, self-reliant, sustainable model of a dynamic city in the 21st century. The project has been conceptualized as a holistic enterprise with a multifarious character. The revitalization program encompasses assessment and documentation, consolidation, anti seismic reinforcement for the monument, restoration of the building crafts, restoration of ornamental works, glass inlay work and traditional lime finishes for walls and floors, restoration of furniture, interior decoration and preservation of surrounding settings.
  • DRONAH is also working on a comprehensive Conservation plan funded by the Getty Foundation for the City Palace Museum, Udaipur. The Museum displays an excellent collection of miniature Mewari paintings in the palatial setting. It is visited by about 4,00,000 tourists every year. The proposal will present an alternative itinerary for the Museum with appropriate relocation of museum displays in response to the palatial setting.
