Dr. Shikha Jain has expertise in conservation and community
design projects. Her doctoral work on ‘Havelis of Rajasthan’
was awarded by the Indian Institute of Architects in 2003
and has been published as a book titled ‘Havelis: A
Living Tradition of Rajasthan’ (Shubhi, 2004). She has
received award from Avas Vikas Sansthan, Jaipur in an Urban
Design Competition for Revitalization of the historic zone,
Ghat ki Guni, Jaipur, Rajasthan. She has contributed a number
of articles on heritage of Rajasthan and Gurgaon in national
and international journals, and newspapers. Her most recent
publication is ‘Princely Terrain: Amber, Jaipur and
Shekhawati’ (Shubhi, 2005). She is also the Chief Editor
for ‘Context: Built, Living and Natural’.

Background
A practicing architect in Gurgaon since 1996, Shikha Jain
has earlier worked with reputed architectural firms in India
and USA. At present, she is also the State Co-Convener for
INTACH Haryana chapter. She is panel member of PRASADA, Society
of South Asian Studies, UK. She is also Visiting Faculty at
Sushant School of Art and Architecture and has earlier taught
Conservation and Urban Design in several architectural colleges

She has a keen interest in conserving natural heritage and
has executed on a number of sensitively designed landscape
projects in urban and rural locations.

Kavita Jain is a free lance landscape specialist. She has

District Park for the Durgapur Development Authority. She

Dr.
Ajay Khare is a conservation architect and Professor and Head
of Department of Architecture at BIT, Mesra Ranchi. He has
a number of successful conservation projects in Rajasthan
to his credit. He has been actively involved in organizing
conferences on Heritage, has given special lectures and Radio
talks on conservation. He has written several articles on
conservation in national and international journals. He is
the author of ‘Temple Architecture of Eastern India’
(Shubhi, 2005)

Cheena
Kanwal is an architect with specialization in Environment
Management. She has worked as voluntary officer for British
Trust for Conservation Volunteers, Leicester, UK and as voluntary
worker for ‘Himshitij’, a volunteer group in Shimla,
Himachal Pradesh.

Bardhan is an architect with specialization in Landscape.
She has also received 2nd prize in the International Landscape
Student Design Competition at the 6th Eastern Regional Conference,
Taipei. A number of her articles have been published in national
journals on architecture.
