DRONAH Projects in this region include:

DRONAH – Himachal Pradesh has started work on three projects at Shimla that are primarily connected with urban issues. DRONAH is working with key state departments namely:

Department of Science, Technology & Environment on energy and cost efficient design of a mini-planetarium building, the drawings for which have been submitted for planning approval from the local authorities.
Department of Town & Country Planning in developing and implementing local architectural and building codes that have been incorporated in the development plan of Shimla. One of DRONAH’s proposals for executing a comprehensive interpretation plan for the notified heritage zone in the city is being taken up as a focus area for the year 2005-06 by the department.

A proposal for the protection of a neighborhood urban forest by declaring it a Nature Park for recreation has been submitted to Municipal Corporation Shimla. It involves coordination with various other local agencies and that process is underway. This project would benefit the public for general recreation, and also serve as an initiative towards non-formal education and awareness generation about our rapidly disappearing natural heritage. The Department of Culture, Shimla has appointed DRONAH for a detailed Research and Documentation of listed monuments in Shimla.
